My name is Darnell Walker-Jones and I’m currently a Broadcast Journalism student at Florida A&M. Growing up I felt a natural pull towards the creative space, as my father was a writer for kid’s television and I would always watch with wonder as he came up with some of the most amazing stories. I picked up my first camera when I was 16, a Canon Rebel T3i, and began to make highlight reels for my school’s soccer team. I became more serious about filmmaking my senior year. It was then that I decided to create a passion project: a short documentary focused on the visibility of the universe from my hometown. During the summer of 2023 I got the chance to travel to Ghana. It was in Accra where I was able to create my first international documentary focused on the livelihoods of scrap workers. My latest contribution is a documentary titled Field Trip, a story centered on NFL Hall of Famer Ken Riley’s legacy. My end goal when it comes to film is to share the world with the world.
